First, I really recommend wearing your seat belt, but that's up to you.

There are posts on the forum that indicate Lexus can turn off the chimes, but it takes them to do it - i.e., you can't do it yourself. Some have reported they will do it for no charge, but your mileage may vary.

Interestingly, that's NOT an option on the LPS list. And since it's related to a safety issue (seatbelt laws apply in all states, AFAIK), I'm a little surprised they'll do it at all. I mean, these are the same people who won't let you use your nav system while moving. But some are saying they will disarm the chime.

Note last item on LPS list...

Changing the "Seat Belt Reminder" to OFF does not eliminate the initial 5-tone reminder, although some here have claimed to have that done as well. What it does however is eliminate the long drawn out reminder, and the passenger seat belt reminder. The reminder then is exclusively for the driver's seat belt. Methinks the long reminder is targeted at families.

That's odd ... mine is different from yours. there's no such entry on mine.

And for some reason, mine was titled "2007" although it was in my 2008 car.

Well, I tried to post a bigger image of it, but the "system" won't let me.

You may want to try using Photobucket or other hosting service to mirror your scanned images.

I was given a list detailing these settings at the time of delivery, but it was a duplicate of the ones found in the Quick Guide p.65-67. You may want to take a browse there to see if they are in yours. Because there was such a large volume of data given to me at the time, I put it all aside until later. The service advisor told me to review it when I had some time and determine what my choices would be at the 1K service. I gave them a few then as well as at my second appointment. They didn't charge me anything, and I suspect they won't if I change any other in the future.

For them, it's just a matter of plugging in a service laptop and clicking in your preferences. No biggie, but I imagine there are some unscrupulous dealers out there that might try to milk unsuspecting clients.

I'm wondering if the Canadians have options that US owners do not.

I haven't brought my car in yet for the first 5000 mile service, but when I do I want that chime shut off.

Default We Canadians have lots of things you 'Mericuns don't have...

I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees, I eat my lunch
I go to the lavat'ry
On Wednesdays I go shopping
And have buttered scones for tea
I cut down trees, I skip and jump
I love to press wild flow'rs

I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars
I cut down trees, I wear high heels
Suspenders and a bra
I wish I'd been a girlie
Just like my dear mama

I drive a Lex 460
It has pink frilly trims
The buzzer drove me silly
So I smashed with my axe
And now my Lex is customized
The way it should have been...

(With profound apologies to Monty Python)

Chorus:

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh he's a lumberjack and he's OK
He sleeps all night and he works all day
He chops down trees, he wears high heels
Suspenders and ...... a ......... bra ........?
He wishes he'd been ........... a girlie? ...................

Blaaaah, (walks away disgusted) Not that there's anything wrong with that.
