Default Just got back from LS460 intro event, dissapointed

Very dissapointed....

I use the car to carry 5 people a good amount of tiime. Both the SWB and the long will NOT comfortable carry three adults in the back seat. The head room is way to short....

The really screwed up.

Every owner has different priorities, for me afull size car should be a full size car...

oh just to make sure I was not going crazy...I sat in three different LS430's and they all had plenty or rear head room.

sorry guys

Jerry

I don't think most people carry 5 adults in ANY vehicle unless its an SUV or a van. I've never sat in ANY car comfortably with that many people before... especially not an LS430.

I concur that the rear seat headroom is less in the LS 460, particularly for the SWB and the center rear seat (which reminds me of the old 2ES, where the center seat is somewhat higher than the two side seats). If you are 6 feet or taller, your head will bump the ceiling in the center seat--the side seats have more room.

I would suggest the LS 460 L, where the legroom compensates for the headroom, as one can sit a bit more stretched out.

But a consequence of the new L-Finessed designs are that the rear seat headroom is less due to the rear shape.

The reclining rear seats should help ease the proximity of the head from the ceiling. My friend is 6'1" and her head was an inch or two from the ceiling speaker...

I think the main complaint is the middle position of the rear seats, so I don't think the reclining seat, which is on one side only, would help.

I hate sitting in the middle position of the rear seats of any car even when I was a teenager though, I won't be happy with it except for short trips.

As for the LS430, some (including me) had complained about it's styling & that it looks "too tall" & square, but that's what give it good headroom. I have even heard of a person picking the LS430 over the S class because he is more comfortable with the headroom in the LS430 than in the S class.

By the way I'm only 5'9" and my head rubed the ceiling. An older woman got right in after me and did the same thing. I quote "this ceiling is much shorter"... I guess in South Florida we drive more friends around.

I had plenty of headroom but I'm a shrinky-dink at 5'7".

Those swooping roof lines no doubt contribute to losing some of the added headroom.

i did, why? that has nothing to do with middle seat

i agree, on the two side seats they are ok, but the middle seats it's a bit "off" imho. doesn't really work that well with a passenger there

so middle seats always stays in the same position even if you move and recline both back seats? Thats unusual.

That's not encouraging. My LS430 had huge amounts of space in the back. Not as much as a Avalon, but big. I felt the same way when look at the GS350. The packaging is very disappointing for a car with that large of a foot print. The rear seats were as small as a compact car and same with the tunk. The IS also has a very small rear seat. To the point of useless, unless you have young childeren. I opted for the ES350 for those reasons.

I found that the GS/IS rear seats look small, but when you actually sit in them they're quite good. The GS definitely has more room but the IS backseat isn't bad for 2 people...3 is tight.
