At one of ours, they only have a UL LS430 to show people (just another example)

So the Canadian LS460's can have the 8GB audio server while the American cannot. Are we seriously being discriminated?

It's lexus USA that decides how they package the options for the U.S. so I won't call that discrimination , it's just a decision they've made, much like Lexus Canada decided to offer the GS450h in only one trim without the suspension option available in th U.S. . . . . .

Very true. I lost it on this one. It has nothing to do with discrimination but rather simply an utterly overly pessimistic sales forecast for the US market.

Lexus continues to sell vehicles with such a tight supply it's ridiculous. When I bought my GS400 in 2000 no dealer within 100 miles of ATLANTA (not exactly a small market) has any GS (300 or 400) with navigation.

Dealers tend to stock one or maybe two flavors of each model and that's it - take it or leave it, or pay list, wait 3 months. Thanks a lot.

Now a car like the LS460[L] shouldn't have 'packages' at all - you should be able to get it the way you want it, and QUICKLY. But I've no doubt the dealers and Lexus will continue to operate the same way. "Yes sir, you can have one, as long as it's gray with these options." If I wanted that service I'd go to Hyundai.

hahhaa the way i see it, it's lexus having a tough time meeting the high demand

and another problem is, lexus can only bring in that many cars a yr. so they have to see which one they wanna bring in more. for example back in 97-98, because of the hot demand on the new GS, the supply of SC was down to almost zip. that's just a game lexus has to play. and with the new GS and IS, lexus has to compromise one way or the other on new models

I actually think it's the same for every other luxury car models, look at the interior/exterior color variations PLUS the option combinations, if they have to stock one each of most if not all of them, they need to have 100+ at the same time, & I don't think even the largest dealers can have that many in stock at one time. It's not unusual to have to order a german made luxury car & wait 3 months for delivery if you are picky about options & color combinations, I almost ordered a E500 before I got my SC & that's how long I was told, same for some of the people I know.

OK so the long wait is the norm, but they should at least get a fully loaded model in the showroom to demo the various options that the lesser models don't have.

"How am I going to know if the Executive Seating Package is worth the money and wait if I can't see and try it first before I place an order?"

"The regular seating is just as comfortable, sir. You won't be able to tell the difference."

You did ? I thought only for a white/black SC430. I thought you took the white/saddle because it's available & you can get a bigger discount . . .

I was lucky, I wanted an Amethyst/ecru SC430 & one dealership had one that just came in fom Japan, it's supposed to be a rarer color too .

well i had to wait coz' they didn't have it at the lot, but they were on the boat across the pacific plus i had to "wait" a little bit regardless, since i said i wouldn't pick anyone with the front license plate drilled

i think it was about 2 weeks wait?
