The current pricing of LS 430 is too cut-rate in my opinion. This may work in deal-loving America, but lexus has plans to go global. I dont see how Luxury and "cut-rate" can pan out together, seems like a scary recipe in long run.

I actually find it shocking how people automatically take it for granted that Lexus is all about "value" and germans are all about "premium" even though LS is just as cutting edge and sophisticated. The new LS will, I believe, add dynamic performance too.

The excuse that LS is an upstart just doesnt make sense. Audi A8 was introduced in 1994 and did not actually come to US until 1997, so it is even more recent and lacking in "Heritage" than LS. 7-series too is not that old (1978) compared to LS (1989). Its only the big benz that has a sizeable advantage in terms of cachet etc.

When we look at all these issues It comes around as shocking that LS 430 undercuts A8 and 7-series by as much as 24%. Lexus should charge the same premium as A8 or 7-series in my opinion.

SWB LS 460: 69,000 $
LWB LS 460: 73,000 $ or right around that.

it will still be a good value compared to S550 which comes at 86,000$.

Lexus never had as big of a price advantage(if at all) in Europe as in North America, probably due to the high tariffs for imports there.
