Default Key Card Question

Hey! So I just bought a sweet 2013 LS460 L a couple wks. ago, and I'm now looking into various accessories. Does anyone know whether those Lexus key cards being sold on ebay are compatible with this vehicle? Thanks!

Ebay would be a gamble imo, this is the part# for the card key I bought for my Canadian 2013. The numbers on my fob do not match the numbers on the card key.

Not sure if I follow. So you're saying that the card was purchased recently as an OEM from Lexus, and it still works with your 2013 LS even though the #s on back of the card don't match those on your fob, right?

that's right, i bought the card key about 3 yrs ago from an online dealer and programmed it myself. People seem to be pretty concerned about having at least the fcc number being the same but I don't think that's necessary, the new or virginized key to be programmed probably gets the seed/info from the immobilizer and pairs with the master key fob....I have no proof or this it just makes more sense to me than having buckets of different card keys to work on every model that has the option available.

This is from mlparts, I'm not saying this is the only one for your car but you could ask any dealer and see.

Awesome thx...so how did you go about programming it? And did you hire a locksmith for cutting the physical key?

I purchased the key card online from a Lexus dealer and programmed it myself using Techstream. Also had a physical key cut, but it has do be done someone that can do a laser cut. There is a long thread on this forum about the ins and outs of doing it so a quick search should give you lots of info.
