Default Auto Dim feature not working?

Hi guys sorry for another post but it’s a separate issue from my other threads. I’ve tried searching the forums but have found nothing.

my 2014 LS used to auto dim the side view and rear view mirror when it detects bright headlights behind me. As of recently the auto dim isn’t dimming.. is there a way to turn it on or off? Or is it broken? Idk if this goes bad on its own or is a replaceable item

There is button on the interior mirror with a corresponding green LED (lit when enabled).

Mine stopped working on the LS400 I had, I think it was caused by the outside mirrors when they started looking melted with swirls on the surface but I didn't try to find the cause. If that power light turns on and off with the switch I would guess it's the chromatic magic that's worn out.

Just the outside mirrors looked like that, could have been the heating function that failed, The inside rear view looked fine but didn't dim.

There are two light sensors in your inner mirror. One on the front and one facing rear. When rear facing sensor getting more light than the forward one, mirrors will dim. If you have some source of light in front of the mirror (street lights, oncoming traffic, something on the dash), or not enough light coming from behind it will not dim. I've noticed when driving at night with rear window shade up, mirrors barely dim because inner rear view mirror not capturing enough light from behind. Also that little sensor eye in the mirror might be obstructed or failed. You can test that system during day time by blocking forward facing eye with your finger, or if it is dark outside shine some light directly at the mirror's rear facing sensor. If you have green light on the mirror and it doesn't work, most likely you have issue with that sensor in the mirror.
