Question help solve TPMS sensor programming issue (LC500 wheels on LS460)

Hi all,

I put a set of LC500 wheels on my LS460 and everything worked out great, except.... the tire shop cannot get the TPMS programmed. Their scan tool successfully reads the bluetooth signal from each LC500 wheel, but they can't get the system to work. One tech thinks the issue is the factory wheel in the trunk is on 315 MHz "low" and the new LC500 wheels are on 315 MHz "high". He suggested changing the factory LS460 wheel TPMS in the trunk to match the (4) LC500 TPMS. Does this make sense?

I'm hoping someone here may have a solution. I'd take it to the Lexus dealer's garage if they can do it!

Thanks for your help.

The 2012 and older (2007-2012) LS460s use the Denso 550-0103 sensors. The 2013 and newer LS460s use the Denso 550-0105. The sensors are not interchangeable.

My LS460 is a 2017. The LC500 wheels are from a 2021.

If I’m reading this correctly there isn’t a 315 high. 315mhz is low and 433mhz is high. Regardless the LS needs a specific sensor to be able to function properly. The LC sensors are not compatible. Very few aftermarket will work correctly. I would buy a set of Denso sensors from Rock Auto and have the shop install them.

thanks for your insight. the tire tech's TPMS reader indicated the OEM Lexus TPMS in the LC500 wheels were reading 315 and the LC460 wheel in the trunk was also reading 315.. but LC500 was "high" and LS460 was "low". i guess he was wrong. hard to imagine Toyota / Lexus uses different tire pressure monitor sensors.

ok, sounds like i need to remove all of the tires from the factory Lexus LC500 wheels and install LS460 TPMS. great. F.

Where are the LS460 wheels? It would take 15 minutes to remove the tire pressure sensors from those wheels, and they were registered to your vehicle before your helper tried to register the LC500 sensors.

The tires don't need to be removed from the wheels to remove/install sensors, just break to top bead and reach into the wheel for the sensor. But don't drop the sensor.
