I almost replaced mine, it's garaged most of the time and I think it lost communication with the mothership...when I drove it for a few days steady it came back to life and has been working for almost a year now. If you're parking outside constantly it could be a different story.
The trim pops right off (panel remove tool) and the clock is attached, a few screws and it comes off.
Mine is screwy too but, hard time paying $300+ for a clock when I have a Anroid Auto kit in my car that has a clock, almost right above it.
