ls 600 hl fitting dashcam
Many tap into power from the overhead mirror area. It seems every year has different color wires, so you'll need to probe with a meter for an ignition switched source. There are YouTube videos on how to open the overhead. Also most cams use 5v, so be sure the molded in adapter doesn't get cut out of the power wire. Or used an optional hardwire kit, my preference.
I ran the wires to the cigarette lighter socket inside the center console. I cut and spliced together the normal power supply that was included with my cam. I drilled a small hole for the wire into the center console. No hard wire kit required, all the wire easily tucks into the A pillar and below the glove box. Technically not hard wired, but the wiring is not visible and easy to unplug if needed.
I’ve not done one but I have certainly looked into it extensively. Here is my opinion: if you don’t need parking mode at all and will not run the dash cam
whilst parked. Search mirror tap. And look into hanging whatever you have off the mirror arm in the back and tapping into the mirror wires in the back they sell ready made kits with pins and all.
if you want to run it whilst parked that’s a whole different ball game and for this car that’s a risky proposition, you might end up with a dead battery and a safe way will involve separate battery packs for the camera, and wiring it to run off the main battery whilst engine is on and the packs will also be charging and off the packs whilst parked
