Has anyone ever used a on board battery charger? It literally gets mounted inside the engine bay and is supposed to be used to maintain your battery while the car isn't in use. I was looking at the NOCO Genius Gen5X1.

I have several Noco products including a couple Genius 1's. On the Genius 1 in the garage I extended the wire so it can reach both vehicles without having to switch outlets. On my vehicles including the LS 460 I ran a wire from the battery to behind the front bumper. On the LS 460 I attached it behind the right side air intake on the lower part of the bumper so I simply reach in with my fingers and pull out the plug.
THEunderPSI, Using NOCO Genius5, I wonder if your 2007 LS460's battery is still in good condition. How often do you charge the battery each week? Thank you.

The battery is about a year old. If I take the key fob in the house the battery won't drain. If I do leave the key fob in the car the battery will still start the engine but will be noticeably weak but that's after 3-4 weeks of sitting. I have battery maintainer wiring installed on all my vehicles.
I have the noco genius 10. I live in a warzone with no garage lol so I have to think of innovative ways to keep my battery charged. I don’t drive much these days. So this is what I do.
i have a odb extension robust one I got from Amazon. I disconnected the odb from the trim and connected the extension to it and run it along the side of the centre console and the right of my seat at bottom to the back. So that connects to a odb charger that then connects to the noco. And the noco is powered by a power station, which I put on the floor behind me. This setup is great for ppl without access to a garage. Everything is in the car.
i advise those who don’t drive the car at least once a week for at least 30mins non stop, to have some kind of set up to keep the battery charged. Your battery will most likely die if you don’t drive it for 2-3 weeks. And every time it goes low enough that you need a boost you are killing the life of the battery. A noco boost is also an option at only 100 bucks. You can even hardwire it and all you need to do is plug in the wire into the noco boost and press a button no alligator clips and taking off the plastic trim etc. the hardwire kit doesn’t work on the highest models of the boost but works with the models thats sufficient for the LS

jdanielca, It sounds like a great idea, but it requires knowledge to make a proper connection. I wonder if you can share a photo for the connection. Thank you!
