Default Driver Side CV Axle Replacement

Driver side cv axle inner boot is busted. Heavy vibrations when accelerating or turning.

kind of on a budget. Would it be fine to replace with aftermarket axle? Or I need to install the original part. Btw I looked it up with tax its $1060.
also would you guys recommend replacing the axle seal during this process?

look forward to hear from you guys.

car details-

2014 Ls460 f sport AWD 62k miles

If I was forced to choose aftermarket I'd get GSP brand. It will rust they come unpainted which is ridiculous.

edit - OE axle is about $830 shipped from Bell Lexus North Scottsdale

If you are comfortable doing this yourself and for the difference in price plus that's the easy side I would try one of these. If you haven't done axle seals before I would just be really careful when you pop the original axle out and see how it goes. You should be able to tell if the inner joint is loose by moving the axle shaft up and down, is is knocking when you turn?

Thanks for the quick response and recommendations. shop owner is charging me $250 parts and labor. Idk what brand he is using.

btw I see 2 different parts for my car when I plug in vin at bell Lexus parts. Seems they both fit. I have f sport. Is that why?

thanks for your response. I live up in north east. We have a winter storm coming in and it’s just too cold to work on the car.

Yes, It’s clunking really bad when turning. Even during acceleration. Yes the inner part is the culprit. Big hole in boot cover and loose.

F Sport has a different part number vs. not, can't say why. Always verify via VIN but this is what I find for F Sport

You made a mistake driving with damaged boot, you could get away with replacing just boots (~$200). I know that F-Sport has own front right axle, and likely left as well due to beefier outer joints.

im only human man. The hole in cv axle boot is size of a quarter. Idk how it happened. Only noticed problems when car made clunking noise and abnormal feeling in steering wheel.

Sounds like I need to get the original part $$$$

This part is almost half the price from another genuine Lexus parts dealer. Before I order. Is this the right part for the Fsport front drivers side?

Without your VIN I can't verify 100%.

Call that parts dept and ask them for the part# and price for what you need.

Details state it’s for Fsport drivers side AWD. The more expensive $900+ cv axle is for AWD without Fsport. Strange how I thought the beefier sport would cost more.

Just ordered. Total ran up to this. Bought in Feb 2025. Just fyi for anyone who finds this helpful.

again thanks to all you guys who were quick and responsive.

This is good, if they send you the wrong part it's on them.
