Hard to Keep my LS as a Weekend Car
Does anyone ever just stand outside and admire their car?
I’ve had my LS just over a month, and it’s difficult to keep the miles off it and have it as my weekend car. I commute a decent amount, so gas would kill me. I want to keep it as nice as possible, but it saddens me to put it back in the garage after the weekend.
Sometimes I’ll sit in it and just listen to music, but I’ve found that keeping it on accessory, then shutting it off and not starting it for several days, I get the crank but no start on the first try later on in the week, pulling a p1604, but after that and driving it all weekend, no issues. Dealership replaced the battery last month when I bought it, and it’s at 12.4V.
I wish I didn’t have to pass through the ON position to switch the car off accessory. It’s probably not good for it, running things for a brief moment; sometimes I like having the ML system on while I’m cleaning the inside.
This car will spoil you, and even with the expensive repairs they come with, it’s worth it. I’m very happy I patiently waited a year to find mine.
I wish I could commit to routine hand washes with it being a black car. Summers in the South are brutal with the swamp heat, so I haven’t done a paint correction. I cringe when I run it through the scratch and swirl, but the PO must have, since it already has swirls in the paint.

It’s typical for the LS to have starting issues when using radio with engine off. Lots of electrical draw from other components while car sits turned off. If you want to enjoy sitting in car listening to radio, best get a battery maintainer and keep it plugged in so car will start the next day. Maybe take it to work 1 or two days per week if you can afford the gas.

I’ll do the battery maintainer thing. I have 3 of those because of all my previous project cars I used to keep. Downsized to 1 so the LS has a spot in the garage. Wife’s GX and the ES stay outside. 😆
I know the crank and failed start after cycling accessory>on (engine off) a few times all too well. I. Pretty sure it has nothing to do with the battery but something else dealing with the cycling to ON. It would happen to me if I sat in the car and cycled it at least 3 times. Crank no start on the first try, second try starts right up.
