Bleed Brake Actuator or?
Hi all,
Now I have seen many posts about the Brake Actuator, and the stiffness that happens when it goes bad or needs replacement. My 2011 is having such issues with lights on the dash and stiffness when breaking thank goodness I have my 11 ES as my daily driver. Here is where I am and want to know if this will work or if this is just to see what happens, my uncle stated that the fuses needed to be replaced and had gone out again, but he wants to bleed the system and see what that will do. I had read in another post where someone else did the same but never came back and updated the post on whether that worked or didn't. Is this just a start or just have him replace the thing?

Keep it in mind that bleeding brakes on LS460 requires Techstream software and proper (not universal Autozone grade) adapter cable. It is not the same as on your ES or any other "regular" car. There's a very particular procedure for that and unless your uncle is familiar with it I'd suggest you to go to the proper shop. Bleeding did helped me at some point but it only lasted for a few months, then I took it to the dealer. Dealer did bleeding again because dealer does not trust 3rd party shops. When issue came back on the second time dealer replaced brake actuator. I'd suggest you to check with your local Lexus first and see if your car qualified for a brake actuator replacement under some kind of "Customer Support Program ". There was 23LE04 but that was covering 2013-2017, I think there was something else recently.
What you want to try is a brake system flush with fresh fluid. I'm assuming that is what some are calling a "bleed". Use synthetic DOT4 and I'd do it a second time after a couple of months. It may work it may not. In my case it didn't and I had to get a new actuator. As BB9 said this requires techstream and some skills so if you aren't super familiar with the process you may want to have it done at a Lexus local shop, maybe the Toyota dealer (call first) and if all else fails the Lexus dealer. GL!
