Reverse light not working, not bulb issue
Hey CL,
When I purchase my car, the backup camera wasn't working, I didn't think too much of it because I thought I'd just pick up a used part from eBay and change it myself.
Turned out it was probably because my reverse lights won't light up, and since the camera get its power from the reverse lights, my eBay replacement camera won't work either.
So now I am trying to see if I could troubleshoot it see if I could repair it without taking it to the shops.
The next thing I thought about was the fuse potentially, after looking at the fuse diagram here: https://fuse-box.info/lexus/lexus-ls...007-2009-fuses, I see that the "Stop lights, back-up lights" share a single fuse, does that mean if it was a that fuse, my brake lights also shouldn't work? (The brake lights do work)
There are a few other fuses that are also responsible for the "Stop Lights", so I was wondering if my back-up lights fuse did burn out, would my brake lights still work?
If it isn't the fuse, what is my next step to try and diagnose the issue?
Thanks
Mike

This thread has lots of info. Hope it helps you. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...n-drive-2.html
I looked into it, apparently if this fails, the gear selection shouldn't display "R", mine does, so I don't think that is the issue?
Or does it still display the "R" in the gauge cluster? There aren't that much info on the Lexus side, the info I found is from the Toyota forums, which should still apply?
I just replaced my fuse for the reverse light, still isn't on.
Hmm if it's not the reverse light switch then it must be a short somewhere in the wiring, looks like I will have to bring this in after all to a mechanic.
I don't have the skills for diagnosing and fixing wiring lol

I checked and it's pretty dry, I don't think the head unit was ever messed with since it's stock, but idk if the previous owner serviced it or not.
