Default Replaced Battery Now no EPS

We recently bought a 2009 ls460 500 miles from home.

It needed a new battery and we put a new battery. Since putting the battery the epc power steering stopped working as soon as the new battery was installed. I checked the epc fuse and it was good. Car had no issues until the new battery

any help is appreciated

Welcome to the forum. Having the OBD2 scanned for trouble codes is always a good idea. Lexus, Toyota or a shop that specializes in Lexus cars is where to get it done. Other places can do a partial code scan, but best to get a thorough scan done. The steering is electrical.

I had bought a battery a few years back and it threw some codes as well
I paid $400 for a battery from Lexus best thing I ever did because they cleared all my codes when they registered the battery I guess..

Lexus doesn't require battery registration like BMW and Mercedes.

I would however always install an original Lexus battery. since I've done that, it has been trouble free.

I believe that Lexus replacement battery in the USA isn't a Japanese high quality battery. It's just a Mexico made battery that isn't worth the high price that Lexus USA charges. Many members have reported good experiences with Costco, Interstate batteries. Under $100.

A few years ago Lexus replaced my battery. It was a Lexus branded Interstate battery. The original battery I believe was a Panasonic, which is not available.

OEM battery does not cost $400, I am not sure what you are trying to tell us.

That's correct. I replaced my Lexus original battery at the Lexus dealer and was told by the tech that installed it that it is an Interstate battery that carries the Lexus branding and has an extra year of warranty over the Interstate original branded version.

maybe he thought the code clearing was free, but Lexus rolled the fee into the cost of the battery purchase and install. The post is misleading...

Perhaps this contraption might have avoided those problems - I'm not being sarcastic when I say "PERHAPS". I used a different memory saver device than the one in the image, the last time I had to do work on my other car, 2002 Camry V6. All in the hopes of avoiding any codes or any other issues from disconnecting the battery.

Well the first memory saver I used held no settings. The dumb thing was powered by a 9 v battery and that was supposed to hold the settings in the device. It didn't. Come to find out from Scotty Kilmer's YT channel the memory saver device needs at LEAST 12 V DC power to hold any settings.

So I threw the first piece of crap away, and got the device below, in hopes it might actually hold some memory settings next time.

Yes, keeping the settings isn't just about radio stations like it was 30 years ago. Many systems are always on idling in the background. Because of this we get frequent threads about why is my battery low after I let the car sit unused for several weeks. A device like this is good(read directions before buying) or even a battery maintainer attached to battery cables will work.

Yep mine gets garaged and also hooked to a trick charger when not being driven - supposedly just doing this is supposed to give you an additional year of battery life.
