Default Outer Tie Rod removal problems

2009 LEXUS LS460 AWD DRIVER FRONT

Long shot but while removing my outer tie rod….the metal insert that is in the knuckle came out too. Unfortunately, Lexus does not sell this part separately from the knuckle.

The metal insert will not budge. Tried using a hammer and fork, torched it, a manual press, all the pb blaster and this. But it probably only moved a cm.

Has anyone else ran into this problem removing the outer tie rod?

I am taking it to a shop to see if they can press it out but I’m wondering if anyone has any advice :’)

It broke my press too LOL

You could try a 3 prong press. Or put in a vice and beat the end of the tie rod?

Cut the ball joint off at the bottom then you can easily support the bushing and press the stud out. You will need a hydraulic press for this.

Luckily the knuckle insert was saved!

Big O Tire was able to press it out without causing any damage to it.

Thanks everyone!
