GM, I am new to this website and I have a problem with my 2015 LS 600hL dashboard and very few options - maybe this post will help. Background on the car - it is from CA always garaged and the mileage is 50K - weekend or getaway car. As you can see the dashboard is de-lamenting, not tearing just de-lamenting.on both sides. Here are the options that I thought about. Pull the windshield and stretch back the material and glue it back in place, get a carpeted dashboard cover (NO) or I get a new OEM dashboard and hopefully, it does not rattle after installation. The problem with a new dashboard is the (I am not joking) price - a Lexus dealer quoted me $16,000.00 plus installation. I found one that is an OEM dashboard off of a 2016 LS 460 same color (grade A with sensors and airbag) and it is premium leather that will fit however, Lexus or authorized Lexus repair shops wont touch it as it is not new. I have contacted Lexus customer service and they took down my info and someone would get back to me - right? All I heard for the customer rep (woman) is that it is not under warranty. Any suggestions?
Lexus replaced the dash in my 2010 LS460L several years ago along with most of the front interior as well. My dash was not nearly as bad a yours. Good Luck.
Auto upholstery shops offer this type of repair. They may be able to do it without removing windshield. Read some Yelp reviews in your area. Good luck with this disappointing issue.
Very disappointing for a 2015 LS600hL with only 50k miles and kept in a garage. Never seen this before and maybe it was due to an accident? This would have been a deal breaker for me. Good luck having it repaired.
I will, I presently live in Evergreen CO so I am heading into Denver next week to see 4 auto upholstery shops - one gave me an approx. estimate after seeing the pictures. His words"The leather on this dashboard has severely shrunk and would need full dash recovery. I would have to remove the dash out of the vehicle and recover it that way with new leather. For this vehicle you would be looking at $3500-$3750 for overall cost of removal and installation and recovery with materials".
Which is better than the 16K for a replacement dashboard from Stevinston Lexus.
With that in mind, if a shop says they can do it without dash removal, I'd be cautious. Your car has such low miles, it's worth investing to keep for years. Mine is a 2013 460 with 63k miles. I'll spend the money when shocks for any other items need replacement. Book value is secondary to me on a well preserved luxury car. Hoping you find the right shop next week.
That's a great price for a dash, I just paid $1400 for a seatback on one of my Audis.
Just out of wonder what/if any leather conditioner did you use? The LS600 is semi-aniline leather and that does actually require treatments to remain soft and not shrink.
The cost is $16,000.00 plus another 2-3K for installation. I used a clean microfiber towel to clean it - in retrospect I should have used a leather conditioner - I know for sure I will tint the front windshield with a ceramic coating to block UV rays and heat.
