Customer Support Notification
I just received a customer support notification to cover the Dashboard Instrument panel for cracking or getting sticky over time. Notification #ZLZ
Anyone else get this yet ?
Covers my car (in service 2013) until 2021 primary coverage and 10 years from vehicle first in service date regardless of mileage.
Did not even know there was a problem with cracking in this area, apparently there have been complaints.
Have not read all the details yet.

Received that notice a few weeks ago. I haven't seen any issues on my dashboard on my '13 (in service date of 4/2012). Its nice to know if you hold your '13 for another 3-4 years, you're covered and that they stand behind their product to fix the problem.
I had an '11 IS350 with the known headlamp bubbling issue and they fixed it via TSB even though my car was outside of the original warranty (I saw the dealership invoice for over $2100 for the new headlamps). In my experience, Lexus has always stood behind their products.

Fair enough. These warranties and official TSBs you Americans get are rarely actioned overseas, despite having the same issues! Our dealers laugh at the idea of 'powertrain' and 'certified vehicle' warranties. My car still has every common issue fixed under TSBs in the US - we generally have to initiate legal action to have dealers recognise faults acknowledged by xyz USA

Ok all. My 2013 GS 450 I noticed probably six months ago some spots on the dash that seemed to be sticky especially in the afternoon hot sun here in Florida. Tried cleaning it and such, but the dash would grab my microfiber cloth and seem to get lint all over it. Now it seems to be an off color and I just uncovered the customer recall notification that I never received since I bought the car in 2019. I believe the car was put in service in March of 2013, so I am past the 10 year mark. Should I still try and get Lexus to cover it? Anyone have luck in getting one of these items covered afterwards? Any products out there that may stop or fix this? Thanks all.
Believe it or not, both areas. The one right in front of the nav screen which seems more like a plastic part, and the leather looking area right above the nav screen. The rest of the leatherette dashboard except those two areas seem fine. As in I do not feel a sticky area grabbing the microfiber. That is one reason why I didn’t think about it too much since it seemed to be isolated to the nav screen surround area. I just cleaned it with some Woolite and put some leather conditioner on it. Probably to no avail, but figured I would give it a shot. I plan on calling Lexus on Monday to see what they will say. I checked my VIN number and it was in the range of GS450H’s with the potential problem. Just my luck, never got the notice, so I didn’t even know to look.
@Hues10 - That''s strange. Keep us informed on what Lexus says about it.
As for a microfiber grabbing a surface, some dry microfiber towels will tend to grab a smooth, clean and dry interior side of windshield glass.

Point of clarification. I checked and it seems to be the plastic (or what I think is more plastic) around the Navigation screen (vertical facing driver and passenger). Before the double stitched part and the leatherette piece of the dashboard (the more horizontal piece of the dash). Are these two different pieces of materials making up the dashboard. Anyone have this problem with their Lexus GS? Really the first time I investigated beyond the “that looks a little strange”.
So called Lexus, and not surprised, my car extended warranty ended in December 2022. Ignorance of not receiving this letter since I was not the original owner. So I believe the issue is only related to the rubbery pebbly portion of the dash in front of the nav screen. Anyone know what that material is, and if it is more plastic/vinyl, would a trim like enhancer product work on it. The leatherette part seems fine. What does everyone use on their dash and door panels as it is since there seems to be multiple surface types in there? Thanks.
