Thats some shady ish right there. Seriously, only shops that specialize in Japanese cars, or more specifically Lexus and LS models. I found a shop locally in SD that I trust a lot. They work on Foreign makes as well and do good quality work because I go over the quality of the repair job myself after I get my car home to see if things were put back properly, and or if things look out of place, oil leaks, etc.. so far they’ve done me right.

The incident occurred in FL. I learned my lesson. I now use TLC in Kearny Mesa in SD. I've had them do my brake flush service so far and am pleased. I asked about Trans drain and fill, they suggested that 60k was too soon and they recommend 100k. How many shops will turn away easy money? Who do you use and what have they done for you?

I see it was out of state. TLC in Kearny? I’ll have to check em out.

Honestly I don’t think there’s ever a “too soon” situation where you have to wait until a certain mileage to replace fluids, specifically trans and say rear diff gear oil which heavily depends on your driving conditions and location in the world.

I am heavy on preventative maintenance on my cars, and like to change my oil for instance, every 2,500-3,500 miles on my 460 depending how I’ve been driving the car. It’s reassuring knowing that the engine oil never really has the time to seriously degrade and cause wear in the engine.

Talking about shops, I use Express Auto off El Cajon Blvd. They are family run business, husband and wife. I used to deliver auto parts to them back in the days when I was at O'Reilly's. Used to stock their oil and air filters too since they would order a ton of filters from the store. I got to know the owners personally and they’ve always been honest and well meaning people including their mechanics. Never felt like I was being scammed or ripped off either. You can also bring your own parts and they’ll install them for you which is great because a lot of shops today are refusing to allow this to happen as the shop looses out on the parts markup.

Plus they are not overly priced either for labor like some other local shops I’ve experienced with. Problem is, they are always packed, so sometimes it can take weeks to get an appointment for your car to get serviced.
