So driving my 2014 LS-460 F-Sport yesterday - the tire pressure warning light came on - and the readings all went to "------"
Yes - all my tires are correct pressure (including spare)
The warning light has gone away.....but no pressure readings.
Ideas?
if any of the 5 (spare tire too) tpms sensors have a low battery, no readings on all tires is what you get. Any national tire chain store including Costco can check them and replace them with dependable new sensors. Don't buy cheap ones on eBay as Chinese and counterfeit ones are not going to last long if they can even be programmed.
If you have a discount tire near you, they price match rockautos part pricing. I showed the guy $30 sensors on rockauto from my phone screen and he typed in $30 for the sensors and I paid $150 for all 5 out the door with a warranty to boot!
Thanks....Good info....
Discount Tire is my go to ......Bruce was a hella guy!
In fact, .I was on my way to my appointment at Discount Tire THIS MORNING when the tire pressure readings came back on - after three days!!
I called and cancelled the appendment.
Weird......Everything looks to be working fine.
Ahhhh - guess I just move on - but any ideas what happened?
During the three days or so - I drove everyway - no readings.
I hope you have no further problems. But, Discount Tire could have checked things out and perhaps found out why this happened. Certainly in a better position than a forum that can't see or touch your car. The batteries in the TPMS last only so long. Your car is close to 10 years old. The sensor transmitters "go to sleep" when the car isn't running, so the batteries can last a longer time on a low mileage car. What is your mileage?
Before I replaced my TPMS sensors my car displayed the same behavior. They would stop working then come back on. Like the previous replys I also had mine done at discount tire for a reasonable price.
For them all to go at once, its usually cold weather and near depleted batteries. I had my spare going out like yours but the other 4 were fine. As soon as it got cold, they all went out. I see you are in CA - have you had a cold spell recently?
Perfect timing for this thread. My 2013 LS just started doing the same thing today with our first cold spell in TX. I guess I will be calling Discount Tire this week.

My understanding was if one dies, nothing is displayed. This may be year specific.
Ya'll seem to be having the problem coincidently with new cold weather. Mine does that when it's real cold and the air in the tires just shrink up enough to cross the line of being too low on pressure. If I top them off up several pounds of pressure to normal, the light goes out. One problem may be that virtually all air pressure gauges are different as to accuracy. On top of fhat, the chances that your, or any tire dealer's gauge, is going to be the same as the in-tire gauge is slim.

Same story this morning. I don’t drive much so may wait a minute to take it over.

I am having a similar experience, the sensors and sensor page no longer displays. Then it started working again, but the bottom tire in the read out was blank. Now it's not working again. My car is now 11 years old, so it's time. I have 5 new Denso sensors enroute from Rock Auto, they will be installed when I get my new Pirellis next week!
The bottom line is the spare. It's the farthest away from the receiver. It would likely be the first to go when the batteries are getting low.
Interesting indeed. In my car, the spare shows at the top, as I've filled it to 38psi and it reads 6 psi higher than all my other tires (which I check weekly with an accurate analog tire gauge).
My Denso TPMS sensors are arriving from Rock Auto tomorrow, and the Pirellis have already arrived at the local tire shop, so I'm shooting for install on Saturday. Really looking forward to those new tires!
Does anyone know if the tpms sensors are covered by extended warranty? I called the dealer this morning and they said yes, but I'm a little iffy on that one. Thoughts?
