Hi guys. I've always wondered what this box thingy is. Anyone know what this is for? In Australia.

 

No clue but my guess is it was an option for a multi-disc CD changer.

Remember those? Lol.

this isn’t mine but my LS460 2007 has the exact same thing.

 

That space is for the optional Data System Controller for cars with air suspension, very rare option.

I finally found out what it was after using my cars GPS for like the first time. In it is the GPS CD! My curiosity has been satisfied.

 

Did you find a slot for the disc? Usually the disc goes into the cd slot on the stereo and it's written to the hard drive, then removed. Or there's a second "hidden" slot on the stereo for the disc to stay in. Maybe you're correct but I'd lean toward an external hard drive or if it your car has dvd movie capability, that's where the dvd goes. Would love to know that you have verified it by ejecting the disc. Your owners manual would describe this.

Please start a new thread and include more info like how long you had the car, any issues leading up to no start, etc. BTW voltage should be closer to 13 volts on a fully charged healthy battery.

 

It is definitely for the GPS disc, my 06 GS had it in the same location.
