Hello, I'm wondering what floor jacks you use for your LS460. I have a 2012 LS460 and the floor jack I have isn't low enough or long enough to reach the designated jacking spots without hitting the front and rear bumpers. I tried a friend's floor jack and had the same issue, the jack simply couldn't reach due to the low ground clearance. Any tips appreciated!

 

Use the jack that came with the car to raise (high enough for other jack to reach jacking point) front or rear from left or right side closest the end you are trying to raise. It worked for me.

These get both wheels up high enough to get a low-profile jack under the car.

 

I'm using a 3-ton low profile floor jack, and a 4-ton floor jack. both from harbor freight.
will need to jack up the front of LS by the jack point behind one front wheel using the 4-ton floor jack, and then the 3 ton low profile floor jack is able to reach the front center jack point.

The 3-ton Low profile Long reach floor jack of harbor freight is able to reach the front center jack point of LS without pre-jack up. But that floor jack is too heavy.

 

For what it's worth, I'm 95% sure I do have the long-reach low-profile jack mentioned in the above post, but it still isn't quite long-reach and/or low-profile enough to get to the front center lift point on my 2014 RWD L without running into the bumper. My method so far is to jack up one front corner, place a jack stand, and then I'm able to move the jack to the front center point. It's a little cumbersome and I've been considering getting ramps to sidestep this issue.

Clearance in the rear is just fine and I can slip the jack under the differential without any problems, though I don't remember the space being all that tight and so you might not need long-reach or low-profile back there anyway.

 

This is how far the 3 ton low profile floor jack is able to reach without raising the LS460. It is couple inches short from reaching the jack point only because of the under carriage cover. It is able to reach the jack point if the LS is without the under carriage cover. The low profile long reach version floor jack has about 3 inches additional reach.

 

The long reach can do it, make initial contact and slightly bump the jack to raise the bumper enough to push it clear to the stop. Then go up as needed, when setting it down set it down very slowly and reverse steps to get the jack out without contacting the shields too much

 

The ideal solution is a hoist but I have a 9 ft ceiling in my garage so not gonna happen.

For just doing oil changes I think ramps are easiest and best, brakes/tire rotations etc just use a jack and jack stands.

 

Floor ramps are the ideal solution, instead of buying another jack. Plus they can be used to get under the car while keeping load on your suspension in case you need to adjust something.

 

I've been happy with this Arcan 3 Ton Aluminum Floor Jack. There are other low-profile floor jacks out there that are a lot lower than this one, but I've had more than enough clearance lifting from all over the car. Also have a set of Arcan 6-Ton jack stands that are very well built and have served me well thus far.

I have actually spent the morning researching QuickJack portable lifts because I have a mild heart attack every time I lift my LS on my gravel driveway. (I have sheets of MDF so that I can't provide a stable and level surface for jack stands, but even still it makes me uncomfortable.) Would love to just go all out on a nice 2 or even 4 post lift but my garage/shop is still a few years out in the 5yr plan lol!

Like others have mentioned ramps are great and 99% of the time I use ramps or a combination of ramps and jack stands. I'll drive her up onto the ramps then place jack stands and leave the ramps and/or tires as added precaution. You can't be too careful when it comes to the only life you've got!!
