Default Am I missing the Overflow Straw - Transmission Filter Replacement

I'm in the middle of replacing the transmission filter on my 2010 Lexus lS460 sealed transmission.

Some time ago I had a shop look at my transmission fluid level and I believe there was a straw that went into the overflow plug.

I have a feeling the last service department may have taken it out and never replaced it.

Does it not exist? If so whats the part # or am i just losing it?

Here are 2 photos of what it currently looks like I feel like there was a straw of some type that screwed into this hole and was plastic and you needed an Allen key wrench to turn it. but I don't recall.

Please help

No you are good, the LS doesn't have that straw since unlike the lesser cars it has dedicated drain/fill/check points not a shared drain/check.

To start out with a disclaimer: I've not gotten around to doing my planned ATF drain-and-fill, so I have no direct experience here. This is all going off of the repair manual (for my 2014, though I'm pretty sure the transmission parts involved were the same for all ten years of XF40 production) and the diagrams at parts.lexus.com .

I think the small black tube in your photos is the overflow tube, and it appears to be integral to the transmission pan (or at least comes with it and doesn't appear to be designed for removal). I know what you mean about the straw, though my guess for that is that some other transmission designs (maybe just the smaller transaxles?) use the removable straw so you can do a full drain. In our transmissions, I think that draining is done through the separate (but equal-height) drain plug that is visible in the corner of the pan near the top of your photos. It looks like if you want to do a fluid drain without removing the pan, you use that drain plug, and then the overflow plug in the middle is exclusively used to help with the initial fill and then the fluid level adjustment. The removable straw is present on other transmissions where they do not have a separate drain plug, and so the one hole needs to be used for both draining and overflow/fill level adjustment.

EDIT: looks like I got beaten to the punch by someone with actual experience. Good to know I understood things correctly.
