definitely worth it if your car is getting up there in miles. Ive been stranded on the highway from a clogged transmission filter and had to get an expensive tow.

I can't even imagine how many people have replaced their transmission completely when they simply had a clogged filter. In my case transmission had already been replaced previously but they never flushed the lines before installing new tranny.

Since I did not want to use Form in place gasket for the transmission pan, I just doubled up on the paper gaskets that aftermarket companies provide. No leaks so far.

These transmissions don't really even have filters, they have a pickup with a strainer. They are reusable and unlikely to ever clog up. Nothing but a metal screen.

I went to a local tranny shop and the dropped the pan and changed the fluid. They also located the pressure dial and changed it to max pressure. $149

Spending that time and effort why not just change out the filter with a new one? The filter has cork material seals and those seals do not look like they last forever. So I wouldn't really recommend reusing them. Strainer/filter same difference, it blocks out metal shaving. Also clean your magnets on the oil pan. Sludge build up from neglected tranny do clog up these filter.

There are a bunch of diy for tranny filter replacement.
