At first the trunk wouldn't open. I finally got it open but now it won't close and the latch is locked in the closed position. The close button is inop . After first disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, as suggested in prior posts, the trunk motor started cycling open and close many times on its own without affecting the lid.
Quite a few posts of members buying used mechanism from Ebay with good results. It's a bit of a job for DIY but doable. The only other thing is if there's a module that controls the latch, that may need replacement. IDK for certain.

I purchased a remanufactured power open trunk latch assembly from the eBay retailer ActuatorsPlus back at the beginning of the year. Yesterday I started having issues with the trunk again and messaged the seller - they said to ship it back and they'll repair or replace it free of charge. I haven't gotten around to taking it off yet, planning to do that today, but based on my experience thus far I'd recommend these guys. Price was reasonable also compared to some of the offerings on eBay.

Thanks, but unfortunately too late for me. I ordered a new one yesterday on ebay,: $140.
Completed the job today on my '11 LS and all is fine. Purchased a latch, new after market, on Ebay. Kind of a tedious job with all the push clips, switches etc., that must be removed, (be careful here not to force any of the plastic trim items.) I was working on and off on it so not sure how long the job would take.
Now that I've done it once, I'm sure I could do it again in significantly less than an hour taking my time. I have a set of Lexus Service Manuals that I used as reference.
