Default Auto air constant reset.

Recently purchased a 2017 LS460 with 31k mls. It’s a beauty! Bought from local Ford dealer. The car includes a 3mos. 3Kml. btb no customer cost warranty. The honeymoon quickly ended the next day when I noticed that after turning the car off and after a short interval restart, the Auto setting on the climate control would relight but the system didn’t come on. That seemed odd to me because any automatic system I ever owned would retain the Auto setting forever if you didn’t change it. After some manual research and Google exploring I discovered the “blend door” issue. I verified my suspicions by calling my local Lexus dealer and he pretty much agrees that other than the actuater failure it most likely was due to the new filter that I discovered in the slot. My recycle position doesn’t change the blend door and I’m guessing the Ford dealer changed the filter by forcing the blend door up to expose the old filter instead of pushing the recycle button to open the door. The opened door seems to have tension when I slightly pull down on it . I left things as they were and have scheduled service. I’m hoping for a good warranted outcome and also that they understand the issue and hopefully farm the repair out to a Lexus dealer. Not off to a good start here!!

A minor issue, easily repaired under the dealer warranty. Inconvenient but not a predictor of any other issues.

If you are handy you can remove the glovebox and get access to the motor/arm you can pop it back into place. I forced it open in my 2014 and had the same issue. After you get access you put the arm back on the track and all is good. The process took about 1.5 hours in total. Shouldn't be any new parts required unless the plasic actually snapped off.

I figured since there was tension on the door when I lightly tried to pull it closed that it most likely didn’t become disconnected from the arm. If there’s merit in removing the glove box to look I definitely will try it. Thanks for the suggestion .
