I did consider it, but then i didn’t want to have any fitment issues from having the pads being too bulky when reinstalling the liner. Plus i believe behind the plastic liner near the front end by the bumper, is open space to get to the headlight bulb, so you can’t install any padding behind the liner only the on the opposite side you possibly could. But then the surface is rough and most likely the pads won’t stick the actual metal portion all too well of the inner body behind the liner.
I had old rubber pads on the plastic liner prior to me installing the new ones, and they never came off even with all the rain we’ve had in CA this past winter. Only time will tell, but I made sure I rubbed down the pads with the roller really well so they don’t come off.
