Can anyone point me in the right direction for a proper substitute to swap the sub using the oem amp. Preferably Amazon links.

checked the sticky and the 2 subs recommended were discontinued.

 

Do you have the ML or Pioneer system? The subs have different ohm ratings in each. If it’s the ML are you looking to upgrade or just replace due to the foam falling apart? If it’s just a foam issue I highly suggest a rebuild kit.

 

it’s the ML system. I looked at the sub and looks like there’s like rubber cement all over it. That’s why I was opting to replace it.

I’m just looking for something that’s not going to blow my factory amp. I understand that’s it’s 16ohm and like 100rms. Options seem limited on an initial search. Just wondering what people have put in there.

Have one in my ML equipped 2004 LS430. Sound is perfect once it beds in.
Needs slight modification of the plastic frame the the OEM sub mounts to but easily done with a Dremel.
You need to wire the 2 voice coils in series to get the 16ohm nominal impedance.
