Remove hood?
Hi
I was crashed into in the front and got insurance to pay me out so I can fix it myself. I have purchased the entire hood same color as my 430 as much cheaper than a panel and paint job to fix it.
Has anyone removed the entire hood before?
Any advice tricks or photos? Anything to look out for? I think I have heard you have to break the struts to remove them, is that true?
I have replaced the hood on jap vehicles before which is easy enough ... needs two people one to hold each side as you bolt it on ... much the same for a Lexus I am guessing?
Thanks!

Nah, the struts either pop off (if they have been replaced) or else unbolt, although it's fiddly.
Other than that just unbolt the hinges.
I would have someone assist as it's a heavy hood!
Aligning it is also going to be a bit difficult.

Sounds all good cheers
Yup have got my bro coming to help me hold the hood , it is heavy!
But good to know its simple enough to do ...
I have seen the bolt on the struts and was hoping it was as easy as just unbolting it. When I replaced the trunk struts, I had to pry out a little clip which wasn't reusable. But the hood struts look different and glad to know they are reusable. Thanks!

NP, the replacement struts sometimes come without the ball-bolt, so then you need to cut up the old struts to get the ball out, or buy some ball-bolts to replace them.
If you just unbolt them from the top then you can just lay them down when you remove the hood, and attach them once the new hood is in place.
