Default LED DRL/Highbeam Success!

I know this has been discussed in the past over and over, but I thought I'd go ahead and take the plunge and try it out and report back.

I purchased the VLEDS PWM DRL kit, in 5000K.

This is before....

The kit that I purchased:

The kit includes two LED bulbs, the LED driver, a Fuse holder with ring terminal for the battery, and wiring from the fused battery line to each LED driver, and wire loom. The LED driver also has a harness with ring terminals for grounds, and bolts, which can be grounded to unused threaded holes on the fender structure. Pretty convenient.

I won't go over on the details of removing the panels to access the bulbs themselves, as its well documented both on this forum and the youtubes.

I ended up running the 12V line for the driver light in front of the radiator, zip tying along where other wiring is for the horn. The loom protects the wire pretty well and there's plenty of extra slack.

The LED has a fan on the back of them.

Didn't get all the photos, but I ended up using electrical tape to clean up the slack wiring, and then securing it to existing harnesses, and letting the LED resistor as well as the DRL switcher sit on top, so it has air circulation around it.

The end results are fantastic! Zero flicker, a good clean LED DRL, and fantastic high beams! The photos don't do the light justice. I was trying to play with angles but couldn't capture it really well. Overall very happy with the results, and don't have to look at the yellow DRL 'glow' anymore!

This? I wonder if it only works with their bulbs? Their bulbs alone are $200...... I bought a set of random 9005 off Amazon during bf but my car is still snowed in right now and I've been lazy to attempt the install.

I've gone to Diode Dynamics for bulbs whenever possible. 3 yr warranty, US Made, No flicker. As they are more $$ than just Amazon whatever's they are a great vendor / product as well! I may need to jump on this, I like a nice lighting upgrade :-)

So we do not need the "pass thru" harness, when ordering - correct?

Looks great! Get some sunset / night shots!

I would love to see some night photography from the driver seat or from behind the car showing their performance down a dark road or backwood roads.

I asked vled and they said their pwm harness will only work with their micro bulbs. Yea sadly at this point I have better maintenance things to do than spend $200+ on high beams

Maybe Santa will be nice to us this year 😂

I'm definitely going for them even tho they are expensive. Can't stand the incandescent DRL

Yea, I'll ask my mechanic when I go in for service if he has tech steam so maybe I can just disable the DRLs

Before I pull the trigger on buying a different set of bulbs for my 02 can I just add 9005 in the high beams instead ?

What do you mean just add in? Does your car have drl? Drl and high beams use the same 9005 bulb but at different voltage

Like I posted in another thread, you can just buy decoders for $20 with free shipping and then any LED will work correctly as a DRL and high beams with zero fuss.

I'm sorry but IMO, I find headlight mods in general like this are detracting and simply a step that "cheapens" the car. Did you consider using Techstream or Toy/Lex dealer to shutoff the DRL's if the classic dim glow bothers you that badly?

I can't help but think of an all ate up 2002 Hyundai Sonata (with purple bubbly tint lol) speeding recklessly sporting the wanna-be fake HID bulbs. You know, the hooptie who has one headlight shining into the trees and the other headlight wobbling because they didn't place the retaining clip in correctly?
