Hi all,
A desperate DIYer needs some help. I have 05 LS430 with 70k miles. My aging mom drove till she no longer able to. With P0031 code, I was trying to replace B1S1 sensor (located underneath driver side floor) AND here is the biggest BOOBOO on my part, while trying to disconnect, I inadvertently pull the plastic connector on the vehicle side off the 4 wires!! I know I could only blame myself but now I have a serious issue at my hand. The free wires are way deep inside the tight space and I have no way to get to them. As for the orientation of the wires, I am quite confident that which wires (green, shiny black, dull black and yellow) goes to which 4 terminal on the plastic connecter. Most of you have more experience with cars in general and probably have better ideas than I do. Or maybe if you know someone who can repair this, please let me know. I am in SoCal and the car is mechanically perfect condition with some aesthetic issue like scuff marks. I love how over engineered this vehicle is and love this model more than 2012 LS460 I have.
Thank you and looking forward to hear from anyone with any ideas!!
You posted in the LS430 section so you need to post this in the correct section for help, Most of us only know the LS430 which is a model before the LS460
I would suggest that way to go is to get a junkyard tail and splice it on. (OK, it'll be a little longer than before but so what?) Obs the pins are crimped on to the wire, so unless you have new pins of the correct type, are willing / able to de-pin the original connector, have the right crimp tool AND enough space to get it in there... (Impossible, basically!)
Best way to splice is solder / heatshrink each wire then wrap overall with self-amalgamating tape for waterproofing.
Set aside a whole day for this and plan it really carefully. Should be OK.
