Windshield RHD vs LHD
Long time reader, first time poster.
Firstly, such an awesome forum you have here, it's been such a help many times over already!
I don't know if this is a stupid question, but I have a 04 Celsior and a really hard time finding a windshield made for RHD in a LHD country, does anyone know if there are any differences between the LHD and RHD windshields?
Would broaden up my search a lot if I could include LHD variants, thanks for the answers in advance.
While both windshields look very similar, they are different in a few small ways. While the center mirror may look centered, it is actually offset a little to be more comfortable from the driver's position, so as its mount on the glass, and that shift will make it quite tough to use a mirror with a LHD windshield. Other difference is that JDM cars didn't come with a VIN plate under the glass, so there will be one ugly hole to patch.
As far as I am aware, there are still a few aftermarket companies that make windshields for the Celsior, though I am not sure how hard it will be to get a hold of, considering how huge and brittle it is..
In any case, sorry for the bad news..
Hope this helps and best of luck!
Can I make the assumption the windscreens are identical in size? So I could possibly buy a LHD one and modify it to accommodate the rain sensor slightly more left to make room for the mirror?
My options are starting to run out so this would be the easiest way, I found some RHD windscreens in Japan but I'm slightly concerned about shipping a +1700€ windscreen from there.
Then there's of course the option of custom making one as a last resort.
I know one supplier quotes £700 for a new screen fitted to the car. https://ukcarglass.co.uk/windscreen-...t/lexus/ls430/
