My very first post!

I've been searching & couldn't find any topic about this particular small nuisance, my LS430 compartments, like front CD changer player flap, cigarette lighter compartment, cup holders & driver coin trays all pops open fast & hard when I open them!

The soft open or sliding mechanism seems like broken or something, wondering if any of you are experiencing it too? Its a nice interior so I want to restore it so it wont feel cheap with compartments and drawers popping up hard

 

Alot of the times when these things stop working, it's usually because one of the little connecting rods on the mechanism has simply come loose. They are pretty simple in their operation and not under much stress, so they likely are not broken, but perhaps somebody who was impatient owned the car before disconnected them.

​​​​​​If you pop the offending panels out of the dash, it's fairly simple to see how the parts work.
