Default Ls430 sun shade auto down

Hi how do I disable the auto down function on the rear sunshade? Meaning, how do I stop the sun shade from going down when I switch the car into reverse? I want the buttons to be fully functional so I won't pull the fuse .

You can't. If it's up it will auto down

OK I figured it out. First I removed the third brake light (just kinda slides into place) , then I reached down in there and I managed to grab and disconnect the connector that goes i j to the sunshade motor. Then I removed the second pin to the right and plugged the connector back in, now it works like a charm, stays up when I want it, goes down when I want it

Bumping for an easy and cool mod. I got annoyed by the rear shade going up and down so much and this did the trick

Nice job. I only use it on the highway and when parked outside. I don't like driving over bumpy in-town roads with it extended. Admittedly I am a little paranoid since that thing is expensive and I have heard they are becoming more scarce, heading towards disappearance.

So, it's the right most wire that you disconnected in this picture with the tab facing up?

If you have a pre-facelift, it's BLU/WHT wire pin 2

Post-facelift, it's ORG wire pin 2

How did you manage to pull that wire/pin out of the harness? I have the 2004 and need to pull the orange, seems a pain
