I would like to obtain a set of genuine shop manuals for my 2004 LS430. They are of course for sale in the usual place, but, as always with the specific year required, the price is eye-watering. (I really don't want to go down the online/download route. There's so much to be said for the printed copy that's right at-hand!)
So, two questions:
Definitively, how many volumes are there for the 2004 LS430?
Are the Bishko ones a good copy of the genuine item, or are they different - or poor quality?
Also, I had a set of manuals that I purchased from ebay for my 02 LS, which turned out to have alot of smudged lines through the pages, text and photos that were very light and not properly printed, and it was even missing a few pages.
I just decided to return the manuals after paging through them, and low and behold, the return address was to Bishko books. I would opt for originals if you go this route.

I HAVE done business with them several times in the past, and honestly never had an issue until this most recent set.
I did buy a set of manuals for my IS350C from them (which was not cheap!) And they initially sent me the ones for the sedan version of the car without the specifics of the convertible model. Their customer service is very good though, and they swapped them out for the correct books on their dime. That set of books is flawless, but I think they they are originals.
Just peruse through yours when you get them, and see if there are any pages that were left blank. If there are any issues, they will stand by their product.

Hello I bought the Bishko manuals from ebay and all the other manuals for the 2004 LS430 I have in total there are 9 books Repair manual Vol 1 RM1048U1, Vol 1A RM1048U1, Vol 2 RM1048U2, Vol 2A RM1048U2, Vol 3 RM1048U3, Vol 3A RM1048U3, 2004 Electrical Wiring Diagram EWD577U, A761E Automatic Transmission RM1050U, and 2004 New Car Features NCF259U. I Bought the repair manuals from wipmyride on ebay and am in the process of tuning them into pdfs
Mmmmm....
Seems like I may have been a little short-changed! (I'm getting three books supposedly.)
I'll wait to see what turns up. I was half expecting to have to shell out extra for the wiring diagrams, but I'd never have guessed nine in total!
(I happen to have the genuine item for the 1991 LS400, which is only two large volumes.)

If you notice in the picture, the books are labeled as 1, 1A, 2, 2A, 3, and 3A.
The original manuals came in three books, but the Bishko ones (and other aftermarket printers) divide each of the books into two (for example, book 1 becomes book 1, and book 1a) because it is likely easier to print smaller books that don't need the robust spines of the larger originals.
The new car feature book is not relevant for doing repairs, (but fun to have) and the transmission manual is more for doing a complete rebuild with all the required specs, rather than just servicing it or removing/installing it in the car, which is covered in the main books.
The electrical wiring diagram book is sold separately as shown in that picture, and really is a requirement in my opinion as well.
If you ordered from Bishko, you likely will receive 6 books, even if it says "three volume set"

The books confirm what I had been told by a fellow member; the TPSS is part of the ABS / traction control setup (and therefore rotational-speed-based). I only mention this because the sales brochure clearly states:
I purchased the download manuals from Ebay for about $12.50. Seller sends you an address where you download a file. That part worked well. I received PDF files for every model year. However in the 2003-2004 folder mostly only 2003 pages show up. The electrical diagrams are for 2001 and 2003 only. For $12.50 what did I expect. Im buying the Bishko books.

That's odd that the brochure says that, even though it's not the case.
I had a 1989 Toyota Landcruiser years back, and I remember one of the things the ads for it said is that it had the new "electronically controlled" automatic transmission..... Which was total B/S, because the Aisin A440F was one of the last fully hydraulic transmissions which used no computers at all! Probably just a mistake by the P/R team.
