Rear speaker replacement
I have a 2005 LS with the basic non navigation and non Mark Levinson stereo and want to upgrade the rear speakers only. The fronts and sub are ok .... but the rear speakers sound very weak .... A few questions .... 1. How do I access the speakers ? 2. Can I use 2 ohm speakers without overheating the amp ? 3. What size are the rear speakers ? 4. I would like to reuse the existing speaker wiring .... any issues with this ? Thanks for any assistance.

i have a 2002 and used 6.5'' polk audio DB 652. its plug and play, works with stock amp. Very easy process to get the door panel off. whole process takes maybe 45-60 minutes per door if you've never done it before. pretty sure all you need is a 10mm socket and panel/trim removing tools. you'll need speaker adapters which most sites offer (I buy from crutchfield and they always include them). you can reuse the existing wiring without issue
When youre pulling the door panel off be careful not to disconnect the locks (though theyre easy to reallign if it happens). just don't yank the door panel off and you'll be good
my opinion is unless you're buying OEM speakers, just replace all 4 at once.

Search around here or in Google for LS430 speaker replacement ClubLexus and you should find a bunch of posts and video links. Glad to help when you have specific questions. I refoamed all 5 woofers in my 04 ML.
I did search both. Found nothing so I asked here. Looks like either the back seat has to be removed or access is through the trunk......is there an easier way ?
replacing the door speakers is straight forward and should be the same or very similar for each year. I linked a video for it below.
you said you didn't need to replace the sub, so theres no need to remove the back seats, but I linked a video anyway.

You should pull the speaker to see the size. 2005 ML likely has the same size as front, 6.5" but I think you said you're non ML.
good luck figuring it out

Oops teaa, my bad. The existing rear door speakers are in a poor location to provide any sound to me when I am driving. After reading your reply I realized there are now no speakers in the rear deck ( behind the rear seat) My question now is if I added two larger ... 6X9 speakers into rear deck would the sound in the driverr seat be better. ?This is the first car I ha e ever driven that did not have speakers behind the rear seat....
That's difficult to say if it would make an improvement or not. I'm sure that a considerable amount of time was spent on developing the acoustics inside the LS430, and I'll bet that they probably tried speakers in the back and didn't like the end result.
It would need some trimming of the parcel shelf, as well as the metal part of the body underneath.

My 2004 has the Mark Levinson system and sounds awesome playing ProgRock or Death Metal.
I know yours is the non-ML (Pioneer?) system, but have you set the front/back fade correctly?
Have you checked that the rear door speakers are actually working? Is the Sub working? My system sounded weak without the Sub.
Remember that this is a luxury saloon, not a rolling BoomBox, so the system is designed for faithful reproduction.
