Vin Decode where
I appreciate the suggestion, unfortunately it still does not work. I tried both Chrome and Safari incognito. I'm getting 2 types of errors, sometimes I cannot even log in and when it does log in, I get the pop up where you can enter your VIN... but it seems to be glitching and blinking, not allowing me to enter the VIN and/or hit submit. I checked and pop-ups are enabled and there are no extensions to either browser.
I recleared the site settings and was able to add a vehicle after 5 times of adding the VIN and hitting submit. Very finicky website. After all that, I still cannot tell if the car I am looking at has the Torsen LSD option added to it.
well, I tried. It is out of my hands. I suggest you contact the Lexus website support!
Wow. So much back and forth on this topic in this thread.
Here is my experience: once upon a time, you were able to just go to a Lexus company webpage and enter a VIN to one of their products (so it worked only for Lexus cars) and it would tell you TONS of details that only the manufacturer of the car would have on file. In other words, it's not that the VIN itself that contains extra info from the VIN system, it's that Lexus kept track of their products using the VIN. Big difference and it was a difference that was incredibly useful. It would tell you what packages the car had and every option it had.
Example, I was in the market for an LC500, but I didn't trust dealerships to know if their car had certain specialty options like 4-wheel steering, Torsen LSD (vs regular LSD), etc. So this Lexus website was ultra-useful. Well, because it was sooo useful to Lexus customers, they decided to remove this feature. It's gone. It went away sometime in 2022 and I only just now came back here to see if they realized how silly it was to eliminate such a useful feature and bring it back, but no. It appears to still be gone. At the time of my discovery, I called Lexus headquarters up to ask about this and the lady who answered confirmed that the feature is not available to us anymore, but did not know the reason. She said that I was free to call in and get the info over the phone. Yes, because verbally reciting 17 VIN digits over the phone and then having to answer "okay, I found the car. What are you wanting to know?" is SOOOO much better than just copy/pasting 17 digits and getting instant info for me to view myself. Unbelievable.
