Need help: replacing knock sensor and can’t disconnect fuel line
I can’t get this fuel fitting loose. I’m using a 14 metric flare wrench, turning it counterclockwise. Using a big adjustable wrench for the 19m (holding it still) but nothing is moving and the 14 is starting to strip. Is there another way to go about this? I have all the connectors off and this put me at a dead end.
At the other end of the fuel supply hose is the fpd. It has a hex on the underside. You can unscrew it from there. That's what I did.
Pay attention to the order of the two washers.
I see those 2 black fuel pulse dampers on each back side corner. I will give that a try. Looks like a 22 metric size… and of course the one wrench I don’t have. Will update later thx!!!

22mm is only .225mm (or.008") away from 7/8"

Made more progress! Thank you for the damper idea!! I had to also take the stupid fuel rails and injectors off due to so much crud that buried the nuts and bolts for the lower intake manifold. I got the knock sensors swapped and of course, the plastic locks broke off. Original starter still going strong at 217k miles for a 2003. Got some metric flex head wrenches coming tmr to do the starter, will swap it since I’m here. Keep the original for an emergency spare I guess.
I’m not sure what to do for the broken knock sensor connectors. Is there a part number for those. I’ve read online it’s part of the starter wiring engine harness which is pricey.
I’m thinking about just a dab of super glue or a dab of JB weld?

That will work. You likely won't need to go in again.
with the manifold off, it is a good opportunity to clean the crud out of the injector air channels that run between the throttle body and the injectors before you get it all back together
That said once you pull the manifold off once, you realise it's really not that hard to pull the manifold if and when needed.
Be careful putting that fuel line back together. Long story short, I had to have a shop replace my starter because I wasn't able to work on my car for 6 weeks after a surgery. When they put the fuel line back on they some how twisted it and it ended up starving my car for fuel. It took me two different mechanics and about two months of borrowing cars while my daily driver was down. I was moments away from selling my LS for next to nothing because it was not driving right at all. Luckily the last mechanic, who was a Master Toyota Technician for over 20 yrs, finally found it and said when he unhooked the fuel line it rotated about 3 complete turns before it got straightened out. Now my car is back to the way it was and I'm back to doing my own work or I'll use the master tech for anything I can't do.

I gave up trying to twist the line loose and loosened the dampers. Way easier that way and the lines don’t twist.
Just want to make sure. I got the new starter mounted, the x2 14mm bolts. That 3rd bolt that’s a 12mm, that holds the yellow plastic bracket… that just holds it right? Bc I lost that stupid thing. Doesn’t look like another grounding because the actual ground is on the right side body. Just triple checking and wanna out everything back together. Hope it’s not a 2nd ground….Thx!
