Default Ballast location and removal

I searched and I can not find any post here on where the OEM ballast is located and how to removed it.

I wrote a very detailed post here about how to do it. I am a complete novice so it is dumbed down and painstakingly detailed.

One thing to keep in mind when using an aftermarket ballast (can be found on Amazon) is that you may lose AFS. I am not sure if it is because of the ballast or because I didn't leave enough slack in the ballast cable. I have to take apart my headlight again in the future to find out. I don't really mind not having AFS, but it is a concern for me in the event I ever have to sell the vehicle.

I would also recommend replacing the OEM lens with a new one if it's aged. Those can be found on AliExpress/AliBaba for cheap.

Have you tried the replacement lens? I was surprised by how cheap they are. I might have to order a set.

No I haven't, but from the pictures they look decent. I believe someone else here mentioned they were ordering them.
