Default Appreciate the replies

I am at the point I will have the hitch installed. If I don't like the way it tows I still want the receiver for my bicycle rack. Strikes me as the best way to pack our two bikes along and take the comfy car even if I never tow a trailer with it.
What I don't know and would be helpful if anyone does. Were all LS430's assigned a tow rating outside the USA or was there a caveat for the cars with air suspension.
Do we have any Canadian owners with the UL option package that might be willing to check their owners manual?
Thanks in advance.

There is a whole section in the users manual that deals with the topic. For occasional use it sounds like you will be fine as long as you stay within the limits posted there.

I find it somewhat ironic that the two gents giving you the most grief have no problem modifying their cars to try to extract more performance from them...

I can swap my engine in my shop that has two lifts and every tool I could want, whenever I want, with an engine from the salvage yard up the road who I know the owner well. I can also do it at my house with my engine crane and quick lift there.

I have have already had a lot of practice with modifying cars and if something breaks in mine it's in convenient whereas for most people something like a total engine failure is a massive panic situation. Most don't have 5 other cars they can just go "oh well, sucks it blew up I'll fix it this weekend" and then use one of the other ones to get around.

My advice is given to help someone avoid screwing themselves, I never modify anything without having enough cash to replace the entire system if something goes wrong. Just like I told the OP to have cash on hand to repair the systems he is putting at risk. I have a spare engine and trans for if/when I blow mine and that's the only reason I'm being hard on my 430 currently.

Well after considerable reflection, a deep dive in to the owners manual I am making an Appt. to have a class 2 receiver installed.
Yes, I will use it to tow my utility trailer. I see no issues whatsever, at the end of the day it is a big heavy powerful sedan.
Big heavy powerful sedans tow trailers very nicely. It's also rated by Toyota to tow 2000 lbs. That's about a thousand more than I need.
My wife and myself will be tickled to sell the 4runner to be replaced with a two seat roadster.

Yes I have techstream on a spare computer. I will do some tow testing and watch trans temperature. I'll also have Toyota do a Trans. service on it prior.
