Default Other options to bootleg navigation update?

I currently have the 9.1 version of the Navigation Update for my generation 2 version on my 01 LS430. The latest version of 13.1 (4 additional years) to 2013 is the latest and only version available. I don't want to get a chinese takeoff for $12 bucks to find out my system no longer works. I've heard so many horror stories on this site for the poor souls that have experienced issues with the cheap versions. Lexus wants $159+tax for the OEM Denso version, which is excessive for 4 extra years on an archaic system. Are there any other options out there for an original or even used 13.1 version? Amazon no longer has any available. I understand I could use my phone, which I do, but I still would like to have it in my car as it still works. Thanks all.

I've seen some posts on here where people have been able to mirror their phone screen to the oem navigation screen, that would be the best of both worlds!

The authentic 13.1 Lexus/Toyota discs can be found on eBay for $10. Example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-LATEST-...-/283455492594

I made a legitimate backup copy of the 13.1 disc, having a hashcode of 87D14B0162410BFED920469CDCAEB25F8AAAF3FF and the particular ISO file (excluding the MDS information track) has a hashcode of 14CE19D16C0AD4D12E203281D6EC539B45AE71C2. You can use these codes to determine if your copy is legitimate and bit-exact to the original one that I had. Note that when burning backup copies of DVDs at home, you usually need the proper type of writable DVD (there is a difference between DVD+R and DVD-R) in the proper burning mode (various booktype settings, methods to write lead-in tracks, speeds to write, etc) in order for the nav system DVD reader to read it accurately. I don't recall offhand the best settings, it's been many years now..

I think my 2002's nav system works great, even given today's Google Maps. Half of the time, I can fire up nav directions faster than a passenger in my car can using their phone. The only thing Lexus Nav is missing is live traffic/construction rerouting.

What I've learned. I bought one on eBay it's fine and even looks legit. It may have been $14. I got a lecture from somebody here saying I buy pirated software blah blah blah and he posted a link to a place where he paid $40 claiming it was legit. It wasn't. He bought pirated software, only paid more.

At the end of the day, it's just like when you go on eBay and get MS Office Pro for $60. Amazon sells it for $439.99--it's a bit naive to think it's been discounted down to $60 or $80 or $100. The reason why those are iffy is I hear just because a product activated properly, today, doesn't mean one is scot-free. One can boot up tomorrow and suddenly it doesn't work--everything is connected to the web now with Win10...

Anyway, I was in fact naive and thought what I bought was NOS, it's not. It's a pirated copy with a label printed to make it look real, and it has worked 100% since 2016. I didn't stop using it, but I decided I wouldn't buy anymore of that stuff, like Techstream, etc. To each his own, not lecturing anybody, just admitting I did not know. Just understand what you're getting is all I'm saying...

To me it's so much easier to use Waze than the ancient looking Nav in the Lexus. One of the main things I dislike about the Nav is the way it has North/South/East/West permanently orientated. I'm just not use to having the screen going in a downward direction because I'm going South. I have a really nice phone holder specifically designed to attach to the side of the radio in the LS430 and a USB cable from my GROM and it works out great. Waze stays up to date and has traffic reroute. The only downside is that the Waze lady is much louder than my music playing through my phone which can get annoying.

Tap the North (N ^) button on the screen to change from permanent north orientation (officially called map view) to current direction up orientation (officially called head-up perspective).

My backup copy of 13.1 that I burned myself has been working perfectly fine since 2013. I agree that you shouldn't spend any money on fake discs from eBay, may as well seek out free sources at that point (and use my hashcodes for verification).
