Default Steering wheel not telescoping

I have a 2005 and I noticed the steering will not move up and down but will telescope. Any ideas?

The LS430 "Tilt" and "Telescopic" motors share the same fuse, so if one of the them is working, the other (not working) has probably failed.

I replaced my telescope motor with instructions i found on this site however I dont find instructions for the tilt motor. I can tell you that the tilt motor works harder than the telescope one due to its auto tilt every time the car is started and shut off. The motor is located on the bottom just behind the steering wheel. Here is a link to a Youtube video of a replacement on a 2001. Looks about the same as my 2005. Hope it helps.

Mine's working perfectly fine, 18 years and still going. The only maintenance I ever did was change that 50 cent/extremely inexpensive rubber bushing many years ago. Mine is set to auto-lower/auto-raise upon entry/exit, turning this option off can reduce wear on the motor but I figure why have luxury car features and not use them?

There are multiple threads here of people having and fixing the tilt telescope motor, including one person whose motor started working after several years of not working. Don't recall how it was fixed but it was something unexpected - banged into it while having the column opened up or fiddled with a wire.

I've left my auto positioning on ever since owing the car in 2007. Never had a problem. No since in having something if you don't use it. I actually thing the constant use keeps it from getting stuck. Don't know what else to say.

My tilt and telescope were working great when I bought my car in 2017 (at 109K miles). Somebody on here suggested pulling the tilt/telescope fuse to avoid wearing out the motors, which I did. BAD IDEA. When I put the fuse back in six months ago or so, tilt worked but telescope was balky or not working at all. After a week or so telescope started to work again and since then works flawlessly. That fuse is staying put.

The ones on the LX470s are also prone to failure. Mine didn't work when I bought it. I still need to replace it. I got the parts from partsouq. Super fast shipping. Otherwise, you can go with your dealership, but parts are limited if you have an older car.

My telescoping motor has failed, and I'll be doing a rebuild of the motor. I'll post up what I used/did once I finish - it's low on the totem pole at the moment.

I wish you good luck. You will find that it is unlike any motor you've ever seen before...

I have one of the tilt motors for sale that I posted in the Marketplace ads on here a couple of days ago. It is Lexus OEM part number 89231-50060 and it is new in the box. I bought it for my 2005 LS 430 that the tilt stopped working on but ended up trading the car in on an LS 460 before I got a chance to replace it. Check the Marketplace ads if anyone is interested in it. Here is the link to it: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/market/954550

I have the bushing, never got around to doing it. If you engage the motor via the button and pull/push on the wheel, you might be able to get it adjusted to where you want it at. That's what I was able to do on mine...
