This buy is not going to happen. In spite that the owner had maintenance records he did not have anything showing that he had the timing belt changed. I really tried to make this happen but I will move on. I am sure that I will be back to the forum when I find another ls 430 that captures my fancy.
Thank you all for your input.

When I see a neglected dirty interior, especial in a car that one would assume has been at least moderately been cleaned up for sale, rightly or wrongly I assume the mechanical systems have also been neglected. Hard pass for me, but everybody has different criteria and I could be totally wrong on the mechanicals.

I did pass on this car and the reason being. The way I read this car is that the owner was not a car person. He did not appreciate what he had. He took it in for maintenance but never a hand wash, probable never waxed. He did not prep the car for sale. I like to see that because I can tell how it was maintained. It had new tires and it drove very well. When I looked through the maintenance file I saw things like full 90,000 mile service but I never read that the timing belt had been changed. When I asked him about the timing belt he could not find it in the records.
Thank you so much for your input. I am sure I will be back with another ls 430.

Honestly I feel like 3800 is a great deal for it but you're right, if the timing belt wasn't done then it is just a ticking bomb. I may also be biased since here in CA, most of these go for more.

It was hard to pass up. I really liked the ride. I have looked at so many Lexus's that I am starting to get impatient. So i went to this forum for some guidance before I regret a purchase.

Thank you
