So i had an issue with my 2001 ls430 when i bought it 6 months ago i was getting pretty bad fuel economy around 18-19/100kms
i showed it to a garage they replaced the ignition coils and spark plugs and 2 leaking Fuel Injectors. It solved the problem i was Getting around 9-10/100kms @80kph speed . Obviously it wasn't the best for a 430 . But now The issue Has Come up again Now i Get around 20litres/100 kms and a terrible gas smell from the exhaust And some black soot On the bumpers . I get codes for all 4 o2 sensors But i dont think all 4 sensors will go bad at once . I am Tired Of this Now
ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED
Really can't diagnose much without physically being there.
Maybe leaking spark plug tube seals letting oil foul the plugs and coils? I'd pull the coils and plugs and check their condition. Make sure the engine isn't too hot, and don't force it, the threads can be real delicate.
More than likely your O2 sensors and your catalytic converters are messed up, too, but solving the root cause of their ruin should be your main concern.
^ Agree with that. Have you checked your air filter, MAF sensor, throttle body for cleanliness, or obstructions? You plainly have a lot of unburnt fuel in the exhaust, insufficient air flow could be one cause. Any obstructions in the intake from the grille to the air filter?
