Geico refused to replace mine with OEM... instead i got a $415 replacement that is significantly louder than original and doesn’t have the hydrophobic coating. This was like 8 months ago and I’m still salty about it

I've had the windsheld replaced on my '97 a couple times by Safelite. Evidently, there's no aftermarket glass made for this vehicle so OEM was required...glad I didn't have to pony up the $800 charge for it....

I will give everyone a tip on Lexus LS430 windshields. If you call your insurance company, most will refuse to put Oem windshield back in. Once you call them, you are stuck with option 1 or paying extra for oem. You have two options. Option 1- Live with aftermarket windshield Option 2- My path was check with Lexus dealership and ask which glass shop they use for replacements. Call the glass shop and order windshield direct from Lexus. Ask for discounts, pay for windshield and installation without ever calling insurance company. Submit bill to company for reimbursement. Insurance company will have a tough time not paying for Oem. Get your State Corporation Commission involved if needed(I did not need). I have done this and was fully reimbursed $1300 approx, but I was wiling to pay for my 2002 to have Oem.

Same, all original OEM on my LS430. My GX has a Chinese replacement windshield and surprisingly, it hasn't had any problems.

That's alot of work to get an OEM windshield....but I tend to agree with you. If you are willing to got through the effort, it is worth it. I was lucky enough to get an OEM windshield 10 years ago when I first purchased my car. On top of it all GEICO paid for it without any questions asked. At least I can say that my 20 year old Lexus only has a 10 year old windshield! lol PS....Now that I dropped collision and comp on my old timer I need to keep my distance from those gravel trucks!!!!

I've got a Fuyao in my 04 currently, and thanks to being in the highest claim state in the country, am in need of a new one. Was hoping for OE, but seeing this will be an uphill battle.

Yeah, Fuyao is the brand on my GX. Seriously though, no issues with it or the rain sensor. I think part of a quality replacement is the person who is doing the work...

Agreed, might just go through our glass company at the dealership here, instead of filing a claim, as my Cummins, my Impreza, and my Lexus all need glass ATM

Difficult somewhat, but necessary if you want your Ls to have the same parts as new. I have about 127k on my 2002 and have the first issue in 18 years. O2 sensor has failed. Will replace with a Toyota O2 sensor, not aftermarket. Future parts failures/issues with vehicle will be decided on a case by case basis, but I like the knowledge that I have put like quality replacement part in. Keep comprehensive(windshield glass, deer collision, vandalism, theft, hail) on my vehicles but no collision coverage. $43 for comp for six months with 100 ded.. Most companies waive ded if you get star fracture repaired.
