Default Plastic covers above taillights

I tried searching but I really don’t know what they are called. I’m looking to remove the plastic covers that go from around the trunk struts down to the taillights. I want to clean under them. Does anyone know the steps to remove them without damaging them? Thank you.

Pictures will help. If you mean the covers on the inside of the trunk lid hiding the light mounts, they pop out using plastic tools but you do need to be careful not to break the tabs.

Not sure why you need to remove them to clean, though.

These are the covers. I’m sure there’s a bunch of muck underneath is why I would to clean under them. Would probably help with water drainage from these areas also.

This clears up my confusion... Never had thought to attempt to remove those.... Have had good results using 303 and a soft cloth to clean and shine those up.... 303 works on the seals, too.

If you remove these, I’m willing to bet they will not fit back exactly as they did before. These warp and get brittle as they age. Personally, I’d remove everything from the trunk, go to a coin op wash, and blast the jambs while ensuring you don’t spray the carpet. The carpet will get a tiny bit of overspray but you can dry it with a towel. It will be minimal if you don’t spray he carpet directly. Should get the gunk from under the plastic.
