Default Steering calibration doesn't work and C1223 ABS

Hello guys. I'm not satisfied with how the steering feels/operates especially on uneven roads (I feel that it helps me in a wrong way, and it pushes the steering wheel in 1 way when brakes are applied. So I want to make sure that everything is right with steering sensor, yaw/deceleration.

I was trying to do zero point calibration with the paperclip method, but I can't. (apparently - with Techstream you can only reset yaw/deceleration).
When I insert the paperclip - all I get is the abs light and flashing AFS light and nothing happens.

I also often get Check VSC/TRC OFF light when I make a long continuous turn in 1 direction (it goes away, when you turn the ignition OFF).

Here's what I saw, when I connected Techstream. When I tried to clear the codes - C1231 goes aways, but everything else remains.

Then I tried to RESET ABS/VSC via Techstream. Didn't help. Now I got this code C1336 that doesn't go away. (calibration of deceleration sensor undone).
AND.. I have a continuous Check VSC/TRC off light that appears every time start driving and turn the steering wheel.

DID the SIGNAL CHECK in the UTILITY menu - it threw these codes (they are not visible in general menu)

At this point - I don't know where to start. How to get rid of C1223 ABS code?
I have another steering angle sensor - I will try to replace it.

Please help. Thank you.

All U errors will be gone once the car fully resets and re-initializes zero points. Have you done any work on your brakes in the last 30k miles? Do you feel if the brake pedal works differently than before? When you press brake pedal does it pull the car or do you feel if the rear is floating from left to right during driving? Which tires do you currently have and what’s the pressure? Is your battery in good condition?

Try to remove negative cable terminal for about 5-10 minutes, connect everything again, and perform full health check in Techstream while engine is running. Please send the results here. Hopefully it’s something simple like the fuse for ABS system. I don’t any of your wheel sensors are bad, as well as abs. It’s gotta be something simple.

Also, I highly recommend avoid paper clip method for resetting zero points as I personally had experience when it caused all U errors which you currently see on your end. Techstream was able to clear them. are you using 8th version or newer?

Yes, I've done my brakes in the last 10K miles. Re-done calipers, hoses, new master brake cylinder.
On the straight road - when I almost stop - I can see that the steering pulls to one side. Tires are almost new 245/45/18, the battery is good.

I will remove the negative terminal tomorrow and clear the codes again, but I'm 100% sure ABS error won't go away.

If paperclip is not good for zeroing the steering sensor - how to do it? I think that Techstream calibrates ABS/Yaw sensor only, no?

Thank you!

Techstream allows to reset the parameters, and then a different button (can’t recall the name, but it could be smth like Test) re-initializes the system. The position of the car and the steering wheel angle will directly affect the learning process, as well as the road test afterwards.

Do you recall by any chance if the technician performed the full brake bleeding, Including abs?

Yes, we were doing bleeding via Techstream. The ABS works fine when needed.

Update.

Took off the negative battery wire for 10 minutes, tried to reset again with the paperclip and techstream - nothing

Both c1223 and 1336 codes stayed.
Will be visiting a specialist tomorrow and try to clear the codes with Launch x431

Sorry to hear that battery method didn’t work. I hope the specialist will point to the issue. I still believe it will be a minor defect, like fuse or connection.

In Techstream, you need to do the Reset Memory function (which is an inaccurate name for only CLEARING, not resetting, the zero point memory), follow the on-screen prompts, and then afterwards, you need to do the Test Mode function (which is an inaccurate name for Initializing/Setting the zero point memory). Test Mode prompts you to have the steering wheel straight ahead, car on a level surface, engine OFF, IG ON. If you do not do the Test Mode after doing Reset Memory, you will get C1336.

The same applies when you do a Reset Memory via the OBD2 port; afterwards, you need to do the equivalent of what Techstream calls Test Mode.

Thank you very much for sorting this out. I did exactly what you said - Reset memory, then Test mode after it. After this procedure - I tried to clear the codes and they all cleared for the first time! Even the C1223 ABS code.
BUT! They all appeared right after I started the engine and turned the steering wheel. So they are back again.

Can this be because I did this procedure not on a flat surface? The car was at the angle, I had to.

Or can it be the faulty YAW/Deceleration sensor?

Thank you!.

I had a similar issue on mine after I replaced a VVT solenoid, I got the C1336. Here's the thread where I talked about it: It's been fine ever since.

Hi! But I don't have codes / problems with solenoids. The Techstream - worked, but the codes are back again!
You said that you used Xpros device? That's Launch X431, right? My plan is to find a specialist who will reset the calibration and clear the codes with this device.

Update.

I was able to clear the c1336 code. With Launch x431. Calibration is done, but the abs c1223 code with the others u0073, u00123, u00124 are still there.

I connected Techstream and drove the car - my steering sensor is 100% good.

But I have a question about deceleration sensors 1 and 2. They are showing different numbers , is that right?
Can another calibration be needed or the yaw/deceleration sensor is bad?
