I want to put the same badge this guy has on my LS, it just looks too good. Did you find out by any chance where he got the badge from? Or what vehicle/ manufacturer/ model it belongs to??

 

Looks like "V 8" may have been taken from an AMG badge...

 

Toyota had V8 badges on the aptly equipped V8 Crown models. They would be available from the JDM parts places as well. I was aware that the Crown had the Crown badge on the C pillar but don't know if there were any JDM Toyota's that had V8 placed there.

 

What would really tickle my fancy would be billet "262" DOHC badges for the sides, no one makes CID badging that's quite right though unfortunately.

 

Reason being the flat bottom of the “V” letter, if you google “Kompressor V8 badge” you’ll see that the V’s look identical. Thanks my man!

Engine size in cubic inches, it's the commonly used way to denote V8 sizes that started with muscle cars and is nice since if everyone had 7.0L engines one was a 426, 427, 429, ETC instead of all being labeled the same and having to find more retail you knew instantly the exact brand, car(s), and engine type from just the number. I started with a US V8 in my first car so it's the numbering system I like and I think "262 DOHC" has a better ring than 4.3L VVTI.

Also helps with bragging rights since a bunch of engines might all be 6.6-6.8L in size but 398, 400, 406, 408, 410, 416, all just sound nicer and are more accurate than "6.7L" like a lot of stuff I'd rounded off to. Like the current 6.7L Diesel engines, you can say "ford power stroke 6.7" or "406" instead and people will know the engine since no others share that exact size and you can't mix it up with the dodge 6.7 diesel since that one is a "408"

Only exception is if you have a non-standard engine, for example my 408 is a highly altered gas engine that originally was a 360.

 

I do not know when the last CID badge was used but an early well known example of a liter badge would be the 5.0 badge used by Ford on the Mustang.

BTW, hardly ANY car comes with an engine displacement badge these days - the engines are all embarrassing(?) tiny.

Indeed, you have all the more-or-less meaningless numbers on e.g. BMW, MB and Lexus but even those are not real "engine size" badges.

 

I know a lot of car cos started to use the number to imply goodness lol Infiniti is the worst, I would say BMW is the 2nd worst.

Example, in 2002, a 330i was top of the line for a 3 series. in 2020, 330i is entry level (maybe there is a 320i as well but that's getting sub-par imho). Pretty sure a 2020 has a 2 liter, where a 2002 had a basically 3 liter (prolly 29xx cc). Infiniti might have "60" with a 4 cyl engine. 60 sounds like 6.0 hahahahahaha

It's called the megapixel conundrum, where man wants a single number to measure goodness. That's why it's always about HP. Note how many iterations of V6's went from 280 to 330 HP, yet the torque stayed around 260 ft. lbs. Hmmm....could it have anything to do with physics and 5252?

Makes me laugh when I see badges proudly declaring "V6" or "2.0 turbo" since that's nothing to be proud of. I get entertained when people ask what 408 means (only indication on my truck is the custom plate, no other badges at all) and I say that's the engine size and the next question is "that a V6 or V8?" and I tell them it translates to 6.7L, they often figure it out from there. If not the sound once started erases all doubt what configuration it is.

 

I think no-one expects a 6.0 in an Infiniti Q60. As long as the same name is used for all variants for a model it should be pretty clear it is just a name.

BMW and MB naming is indeed pure nonsense.

The mercedes badge font is very unique and it would be very obvious that a mercedes emblem was being used on the lexus.
If someone was seriously looking to do this, I would look at getting toyota badges (for example, the land cruiser 100 series had a V8 badge on the trunk, can find those easily on ebay)

This is the land cruiser font, matches the font on the trunk a little better in my opinion
