Default Faded Chrome Bumper Trim

Hey, all. The chrome trim on my bumper (I'm assuming its supposed to be chrome) is rather faded into a hazy gray colour. Is it revivable, and if so, what method have you guys used? If not, do you guys just use generic chrome striping, or is there a product with the proper dimensions?

It's simple - use a polish compound for "chrome" with a sponge/rag and polish this trim with your hands.
You can try any other compound that you have. 3M, Meguiars or other. Your goal is to polish this haze.

But it can come back after some time.

I previously polished my trim but the faded grey would come back. A few years ago I had both my bumpers professionally repainted and replaced both chrome pieces. I got them at Rock Auto. Really made the car pop. It was worth the few bucks.

I use Mother's Chrome Polish on my factory chrome wheels and chrome trim after winter ends every year. It's not too abrasive, so you might want something else to clean up heavy oxidation. Maybe a dremel with a suitable attachment and chrome polish can remove heavy oxidation.

this trim is sold by a roll at most auto trim shops, you probably need to search your area for one (google or your favorite search engine)
I've bought a 50ft roll for around $30 if i remember correctly, from these guys https://www.yellowpages.com/auburn-w...ibuting-758618 if you don't find anything else they can probably sell/ship you one
Sorry, i don't have a part/model/whatever # for it but i'm sure they'll know by car's make/model. mine is made by Trim-Gard (Canada)

ETA: you'll probably need a heat gun to get the old trim warmed up and peeled properly, if you're going to replace it, or maybe a good hair dryer? lol (it's just a double sided 3M tape)

Although I am not 100% certain on this......I was told that to install the trim properly or (easier?) the bumper needs to be removed. I'm sure not many out there would remove their bumper to change the trim, but I just wanted to mention it. I remember having a certified Infiniti body shop that repainted and repaired both bumpers telling me to get the trim for them before they reinstalled the bumpers.

I saw them do it at the body shop, no need to remove bumpers, it's just glued in in the channel. the front bumper's trim ends are pushed into the little "hole" if you will but the rear bumper's is just cut to curve and just glued on

just talked to my body guy, he got the box out, he says it says "WHEEL WELL" and "CHROME 7/16" on the barcode label, SKU# 24323 00577

I'm curious about this as well. Mine still has the thin "chrome" layer but it's just a plastic film of sorts and the flaking off in the front from wind and bugs etc.
I've read, here on the forum, the bumper needs to be removed but I don't see why it would be necessary. I'd love to see a DIY tutorial before pulling the old one out...
Lexus shows the same part number for both front and rear and the price isn't terrible considering it's a Lexus part.
$109.74 from Lexus of S. Atl- https://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.c...275150030.html
