Found an obd2 scanner that works!
For quite some time I've have a PO440 DTC for the evaporative emission system triggering my check engine light every couple of months. After many attempts to repair it (everything points to the charcoal canister), I usually ask my Indy to clear the CEL during oil changes or routine visits. I don't like asking him to do it. I previously picked up a Zurich from Harbor Freight that didn't have the ABS feature and after erasing the CEL....all the ABS, slip, and VDC lit up until I used the paper clip method to eliminate it. I was told that any OBD2 used must have the ability to read ABS codes which this Zurich didn't do.. I was able to return it. Most retail stores do not allow returns for OBD2 scanners. I just picked up from Pep Boys an Actron CP9660 (with the promise I could return it in 30 days for any reason) and it worked perfectly. CEL is off and no ABS,SLIP, or VDC lights came on. I found a coupon and was able to get it for $85 including tax. All the cheap OBD2 scanners for under $50 won't work without triggering the ABS lights. My question is.....this Actron CP9660 works for me but does not illuminate(which makes it hard to read)....for $111 plus tax I can get the Actron CP9670 has back lighting, does more diagnostics including checking alternator and battery plus other items. I don't use scanners at all other than this one time for the CEL in my Lexus. Should I invest in the better CP9670 for any future use or is it a waste? What scanners do you guys use?

I'm absolutely not savvy when it comes to technology, so anything advanced would be a challenge for me. I'm better off with a small hand held OBD2 scanner even with it's limitations.
